Denis Bikesha holds a Ph.D. Degree in Law from the University of Dar es Salaam, School of Law. He received both his first Degree (LL. B) and master’s degree (LL.M) from the National University of Rwanda (NUR) in 2004 and 2010 respectively. He is also an alumnus of CONTACT in the School for International Training (SIT) Graduate Institute based in Vermont, USA, where he obtained a post-graduate diploma in Conflict Resolution and Peace-building. Since 2004, Denis worked as a legal officer for the National Service of Gacaca Courts in Rwanda. In 2007, he became the director of training, mobilization, and sensitization, a post he held until the closure of Gacaca Court activities in June 2012. He is currently a lecturer of constitutional law, at the University of Rwanda and teaches Transitional Justice Systems at the Master’s programme of International Criminal Law and Human Rights. Additionally, Denis oversees the violence prevention and leadership programs at Lead 4 Tomorrow in the East African region during his free time. Denis is a member of the Rwanda Bar Association and renders legal services through Premier Law Chambers, a law firm he co-founded in Kigali. He has been a member of the High Council of the Judiciary and a member of the High Council of the Prosecution since 2017.
